The 2019 edition of Les Entretiens de Valpré (or “The Valpré Interviews”) took place on 15-16 Novembre 2019, in Ecully near Lyon, France. The French Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Bruno Le Maire, was a guest of honor for this edition.

Under the title of “Il-limited Liability Company – New commitments for a better balance”, the “Entretiens” explored the options available in today complex and interconnected world to rethink corporate (and beyond) responsibility:

“If this rule is unchangeable, nowadays being responsible has dizzying stakes … Being responsible is indeed recognizing and assuming all the implications and the consequences of our behaviors and our choices on the scale of the universe. But globalization and the multiple interconnections that enable the digital revolution, in particular, make the consequences of our actions difficult to master. It is therefore urgent to redefine practices that offer an acceptable balance between the individual and the collective scale.” (from Les Entretiens de Valpré website).

During the two-day event, Prof. Marie Laure Djelic (IPSP Steering Committee and Dean of the School of Management at Science Po Paris, France) presented the Manifesto For Social Progress: Ideas For A Better Society’s views on the possible reforms of corporate governance to reconcile profits and socio-environmental considerations.
